Data + AI Summit Keynote Day 2 Part 2

Efforts and Technological Innovations for the Democratization of Data and AI - Data + AI Summit Keynote Day 2

This is Johann from the Global Engineering Department of the GLB Division.

Today, I would like to talk about the keynote presentation on Day 2 of the Data + AI Summit. The presentation discussed efforts and technological innovations for the democratization of data and AI. The speakers were Brooke Winnig, Director of Machine Learning at Databricks, and Mark Andreessen, a developer of Mosaic and Netscape, which democratized the internet, and currently an active leader in the field of artificial intelligence. This blog is divided into two parts, and this time, I will deliver Part 1. Let's dive right into the content of the presentation!

Introduction to the Data and AI Summit

The Data and AI Summit is a global event for data teams to share knowledge and build a community. Brooke Winnig, the Director of Machine Learning, welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to partner companies. The event includes hackathons, open-source project developers, academics, and keynote speeches by Silicon Valley legends. The lineup of keynote speakers reflects Databricks' mission of democratizing data and AI.

The Future Brought by the Fusion of AI Evolution and Internet Data

In this presentation, it was discussed that the fusion of internet data and AI is bringing significant progress in the field. AI has existed alongside the computer industry and the internet for a long time, but it has only recently started to function due to the availability of large amounts of data. The concept of multimodal AI was also introduced, where AI is trained simultaneously on multiple media types, and further progress is expected. This fusion is suggested to bring even greater advancements to the future of AI.

Current State of AI Research and Potential Dangers

The presentation also touched on AI research and potential dangers. The current focus of AI research is training AI on human-generated data and having AI teach and train each other. However, cautious opinions were expressed about the possibility of AI developing its own goals and becoming hostile to humans. There is also the possibility that AI may excessively optimize for specific goals without consciousness or intention, and caution is needed in AI development. In the next Part 3, we will discuss the practical constraints and potential benefits of AI, including examples of its use in fields such as education and healthcare. Stay tuned!

Summary

In this presentation, we were able to learn about efforts and technological innovations for the democratization of data and AI. Opinions on the potential of AI to save the world were also presented, and we look forward to future technological innovations. Don't miss the next Part 3!
